Turning experience into action for equitable eye health
IAPB Connect, supported by the Bloomberg Philanthropies Vision Initiative, is a series of regional exchanges bringing together governments, IAPB members, eye-health organisations, civil society, eye-care professionals, implementing organisations, private-sector actors and other partners to share experience and explore what it takes to deliver equitable, sustainable eye health and eye care at scale.
Building on the momentum following the Global Summit for Eye Health, IAPB Connect will focus on implementation learning, examining what is working in eye care, where challenges remain, and what policy, health-system and service-delivery conditions are needed to improve access to quality eye health services.
The 2027 gatherings in Cambodia and Bangladesh will use cataract and refractive error as practical lenses through which to explore wider challenges in eye-health delivery. These include health-system integration, eye-care workforce, financing and affordability, regulation, referral pathways, health promotion, data and evidence, equity and inclusion, and sustainable service delivery.
Each gathering will bring together around 100 participants to exchange practical experience, examine common implementation challenges and connect people, evidence and ideas to support better decisions and action for eye health.
By creating space for governments, practitioners, organisations and partners to learn from one another, IAPB Connect aims to strengthen implementation, collaboration and collective action towards equitable access to eye care.
