Accelerating Action, Innovation and Impact in Eye Health: A Regional Forum

Forum Summary

The Regional Forum will bring together government representatives, eye-health leaders, technical experts, development partners and IAPB members from across the region to strengthen collaboration and accelerate the implementation of national commitments to eye health.

The meeting will provide a platform for countries to share practical experiences, innovations and lessons learned in delivering eye-health services at scale, with particular emphasis on cataract, refractive error, workforce, data and evidence, and sustainable service delivery.

Through country experiences and facilitated discussions, participants will examine what is working, where implementation challenges persist, and what enabling conditions are required to translate government commitments into measurable improvements in eye-health outcomes.

A key focus will be on moving from evidence to action, strengthening the use of data for decision-making, identifying common implementation challenges, sharing scalable approaches, and building stronger regional collaboration.

The meeting will conclude with a cross-country synthesis of key lessons, priority actions and opportunities for continued collaboration to support the implementation of government eye-health commitments.

Overall objectives

The Forum aims to:

• Share practical country experiences in implementing eye-health commitments and programmes at scale.
• Identify implementation challenges and enabling factors across cataract and refractive error services.
• Strengthen the use of data and evidence to inform policy, planning, and programme decisions.
• Facilitate peer learning and regional collaboration among governments and eye-health partners.
• Identify priority actions and opportunities for collaboration to accelerate progress towards national, regional and cross-regional eye-health goals.
