Yuddha Dhoj Sapkota joined IAPB in May 2014 and currently serving as Head of the Region South East Asia, International Agency for Prevention of Blindness. His journey on eye care started as an Ophthalmic Medical Assistant in 1981 then programme manger, hospital manager, Head of research and monitoring at NNJS and temporary advisor to WHO for several eye health research.

Mr Sapkota has undergone DCEH course in ICEH London in 1989 and completed his Master degree MSc (International Health) from University of Heidelberg, Germany in 2001. Mr Sapkota is ICEH/LSHTM certified RAAB trainer and has published more than three dozen research articles in international peer reviewed journal.
Mr Sapkota has been awarded with best Ophthalmic Medical Assistant Award by Social Welfare Council of Nepal in 1992, best employee award in 2004, “Outstanding Service in Prevention of Blindness” by Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology in 2008, Nepal (ACOIN) award by Association of Community Ophthalmologist of India in 2010.
