Ms. Paula Mukherjee has completed her Bachelor of Optometry and holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work. She is also a Fellow of ASCO in Dispensing Optics. With over 17 years of experience in the field of Optometry, she has worked in retail sector as a clinical optometrist, as an academician, has been instrumental in advocacy for the profession at the ministry level (ministry of health and family welfare) and contributed to social responsibility business as a community optometrist as well.

Ms. Paula has presented as a speaker in many prestigious Optometry and Public health platforms. She is currently working as the Chief Operations Manager, with Optometry Confederation of India which was established as a Self-Regulatory body for the profession of Optometry in India.

OCI aims to address the problem of inaccessibility, unavailability, and affordability of eye care services in rural /semi urban landscapes of India through Optometry intervention and create awareness about the profession of Optometry.

She has been into community optometry for almost a decade now and believes that her education in social work has helped a lot to connect with the community and develop new strategies on service delivery and advocacy for the profession.
