I am a public health ophthalmologist working in public health and international eye health. As a Global Medical Advisor, I support the development of sustainable and scalable eye care program, cataract quality improvement programs and lead the development and implementation of clinical governance, human resource development and strengthening quality of eye care across the countries where foundation works. I have more than 16 years of experience in clinical and surgical management of eye diseases and have performed more than 80,000 ocular surgeries including 65000 cataract surgeries and have an extensive experience in developing and delivering surgical training programs as well as overseeing the training of optometrists, residents, and nurses.
I have completed M.Sc. in Public Health for Eye Care from LSHTM and have been trained as Institute of Health Care Improvement (IHI) Improvement coach. I have developed and delivered training of trainers on quality improvement‚ minimum standards for cataract services, five-year cataract quality improvement roadmap, cataract quality improvement workshops in various Asian and African countries. My current focus is on improving and strengthening quality of cataract services, building capacity on cataract quality improvement methodologies, and monitoring the quality of eye care services.
