As an ophthalmologist, I meet patients every day who remind me that vision is not something we see with our eyes alone. It’s how we live.
One man, in particular, carried a black marker pen everywhere he went. Not to write notes, but to rewrite his world. Cataracts had stolen his clarity, words on paper had faded into fog, numbers into ghosts. So, he made them bold again, line after line, he rewrites everything, just to stay connected to the life he was slowly losing sight of.
Then came his cataract surgery. One week later, he returned, eyes bright and spirit lighter. Out of habit, he still carried his marker until he realized he didn’t need it anymore. He smiled, dropped it into the dustbin, and walked out free.
That moment wasn’t just about vision restored. It was life restored.
