Ameer Abou Adela is an optometrist with nine years of experience in advancing public health and optometry. He holds a BS in Optics & Optometry from the American University of Science and Technology (AUST), an MBA from Sagesse University, and is pursuing a PhD at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN).

As the Founder and President of the Vision Care Association (VCA) and the VOSH International Lebanon Chapter, Ameer has led impactful programs in public health, research, awareness, legislation, and education. Under his leadership, VCA has supported over 16,000 individuals with eye care services.
Ameer has built alliances across Pakistan, Sudan, Somalia, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia to fight blindness, even amid regional instability. Notably, he united optometry leaders at Saudi Arabia’s 2024 Optometry Conference to foster collaboration.
His clinical experience includes roles as Chief Optometrist at the Lebanese American University Medical Center (LAUMC) and Ophthalmic Photographer at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD). He is a member of the American Optometric Association, College of Optometrists, and a mentor in the Optometry Program of Advocacy & Leadership (OPAL).
Ameer’s leadership earned him the 2023 WCO Young Leader Award and recognition as the 2024 Ambassador of the Saudi Society of Optometry. He represents the Eastern Mediterranean Region on the WCO Board of Directors
