Global Summit for Eye Health Commitments

Summit Commitments

All governments, private sector organisations, civil society groups, research institutions, and philanthropists are invited to make and profile their forward-looking commitments to eye health at the Summit.

What is a commitment?

Is a formal public pledge made by a government, organisation, business or international institutions to take specific actions, allocate resources, or achieve measurable targets in pursuit of our shared goal of ending avoidable sight loss. It serves as a clear expression of political and organisation will, providing a benchmark for accountability.

Deadline for government commitments: World Sight Day, 8 October 2026.

The Summit will convene world leaders to:

Act Allocate Accelerate
  • Commit to leadership and action from the highest levels of Government.
  • Activate nationally owned plans to deliver change and an integrated approach.
  • Implement policy changes to address vision, recognising it as a whole-of-life issue requiring a whole-of-government approach.
  • Increase resources, recognising the return on investment possible nationally and internationally.
  • Explore innovative funding mechanisms and new ways to fund eye health.
  • Foster partnerships with the private sector.
  • Collaborate across public and private sectors to harness educational and societal benefits.
  • Implement the six accelerator interventions quickly as a minimum and scale over time.
  • Harness technology and fast-track research and development.
